O Ministério Público de Atenas abriu esta segunda-feira uma investigação preliminar sobre o alegado envolvimento de organizações humanitárias nos alegados abusos sexuais de refugiados menores pelo ex-diretor do Teatro Nacional grego Dimitris Lignadis, detido no sábado por violação de menores.
A Secretaria Especial para a Proteção de Menores Desacompanhados pediu, hoje de manhã, ao Ministério Público que investigasse informações publicadas em vários meios de comunicação locais sobre violações de menores refugiados desacompanhados abrigados em três centros de acolhimento diferentes entre 2017 e 2018.
De acordo com os media, várias Organização Não Governamentais (ONG) que trabalharam em estruturas de acolhimento para menores não acompanhados na Grécia naquelas datas chegaram a um acordo com Dimitris Lignadis para dar aulas de teatro a jovens.
Muitos destes jovens, que nalguns casos já não se encontram na Grécia por terem sido transferidos para outros países europeus, como a França, manifestaram o desejo de deixar de frequentar essas atividades, mas as ONG não terão investigado Lignadis.
Tanto a ONG internacional ActionAid quanto a SolidarityNow local negaram ter tido qualquer relação com o ex-diretor do Teatro Nacional grego ou ter organizado tais atividades, depois de terem surgido rumores sobre o envolvimento das duas organizações.
Lignadis foi preso na tarde de sábado após ser acusado por dois homens de violações repetidas quando eram menores, criando um dos maiores escândalos do `#MeToo` grego, movimento gerado em janeiro graças ao depoimento da atleta olímpica de vela Sofía Bekatoru.
Os depoimentos contra Lignadis acumularam-se nas últimas semanas e colocaram sob pressão a ministra da Cultura, Lina Mendoni, já que foi ela que escolheu o ex-diretor, em setembro de 2019, paralisando um processo seletivo iniciado pelo Governo anterior, do esquerdista Alexis Tsipras.
O partido de Tsipras, o Syriza, já acusou o Governo de estar a tentar encobrir o escândalo, tendo a porta-voz do Governo, Aristotelia Peloni, sublinhado hoje que “a Grécia é um Estado de direito (…), que tem instrumentos para fazer justiça” e “proteger as vítimas”.
A porta-voz garantiu ainda que serão tomadas “iniciativas” para elaborar “códigos de ética” para combate a agressões sexuais.
A ministra tem-se defendido das críticas da oposição, que qualifica o ex-diretor do Teatro Nacional como “um homem perigoso” e acusa Lina Mendoni e o primeiro-ministro, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, de terem nomeado Lignadis por uma questão de amizade.
Numa conferência de imprensa realizada na sexta-feira, a ministra garantiu que nada sabia sobre as acusações contra Dimitris Lignadis.
“Pressionamos Lignadis quando surgiram os rumores, mas ele sempre os negou”, disse, pedindo à Justiça que investigue o escândalo.
Entretanto, o presidente da Associação dos Atores Gregos, Spyros Bibilas, apresentou hoje ao Ministério Público centenas de denúncias recebidas nas últimas semanas contra Dimitris Lignadis, mas também contra outras personalidades do teatro.
O escândalo de abusos sexuais teve início em janeiro, quando Sofia Bekatorou, que recebeu duas medalhas olímpicas na categoria de vela, declarou que, quando tinha 21 anos, foi vítima de “assédio sexual e violência” por um membro da federação de vela no seu quarto de hotel.
O seu depoimento encorajou outras atletas do sexo feminino, bem como estudantes, jornalistas e atrizes, a manifestarem-se e quebrarem o silêncio sobre agressões sexuais, três anos após o nascimento do movimento #MeToo nos Estados Unidos.
O processo iniciado no sábado contra Dimitris Lignadis, de 56 anos, surgiu após queixas de duas alegadas vítimas de violência sexual, incluindo violação, em 2010 e 2015, que eram, na altura, menores.
